St David’s Head

An ongoing study of fragility, borders, edges and transitional landscapes based on the far western edge of Wales. Painting, film, text and objects made through repeated visits to the headland over the summer of 2026

St David’s Head is a place of thresholds — between land and sea, past and present, permanence and transience. Geology that has endured for hundreds of millions of years is overlaid with mosses, lichens, sedges, insects and birds, a living world in constant transformation. Here traces of ancient human culture and the wild meet at the edge of the British Isles.

Working at the headland I shift between observation and creative response – filming, photographing, and making impressions from the minutiae of the landscape, to be turned into artworks in the studio.

Work at St David’s Head continues to unfold into the winter period. Each visit reveals something new and asks many questions. The work here is an ongoing conversation with a landscape which reminds us that so much is beyond our control — and how much still needs our care.
